As a microtia surgeon, Dr. Lewin firmly believes it is critical to be TRANSPARENT with surgical outcomes – NOT TO HIDE the scars, asymmetry and “imperfections” with special lighting, low quality far away images, or showing only the “best” view of the ears. It is impossible to assess symmetry unless you can compare the surgical ear to the non-microtia ear. All patients are shown from multiple angles of both ears and, whenever possible, a 360-degree video of the entire head is shown so the new ear can be accurately evaluated.

The gallery is shown in reverse chronologic order. Click on each patient to see the before and after photos at several angles.

4 year old boy with right grade 3 microtia/atresia and a minor left “folded over” helical rim.
There is no surgical canal. The reconstructed ear is made larger than the left side (to be adult-size).

Result is one year after one surgery.
