Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl Champion, Derrick Coleman, met with our families at the Earicles 2nd Annual Los Angeles Microtia Atresia Conference (LAMAC) on Saturday, July 12th. Derrick is the first Deaf/Hard of Hearing offensive player in the NFL player and was highlighted in a very inspiring Duracell commercial this past football season: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2HD57z4F8E&noredirect=1
Our Microtia and Atresia families have been following his story closely and we were beyond excited to meet him! He graciously signed autographs, took photos, and tossed around footballs with the children. The film crew for the CBS show, Game Changers, was also there following Derrick.
Later that same evening we held an Earicles Fundraiser. Derrick was the Guest of Honor and gave a heartfelt speech that touched something in all of us. It was amazing to see firsthand why he has inspired so many people around the world. His genuineness, humility and kindness were felt by all that were there. His mother and father joined us at the events and meeting them both made it very clear where he gained his strength and his own inspiration to succeed.
